Iceland, the UK, and some other nations bought into this loose-cannon capitalism, and as a result they re hurting. Some other countries Poland, apparently, and certainly Canada did not, and as a result of wise regulation their banks are among the strongest now (although the global downturn affects everyone to a greater or lesser degree).
