    In Durham, Armstrong will go against Republican Elsie Allan and Democrat Sean Frey, in a race somewhat similar to 2006 when Armstrong, then on the GOP line, ran against Frey, Conservative James Karkheck, and Independence Party candidate Mark Darling. While Darling drew 64 of the 67 registered Independence voters in the district, Armstrong and Karkheck split the GOP and Conservative numbers, with Frey then coming in on top by 11 votes.
